What We Do
Quite simply put, we help people who are in pain out of pain. We either do this through specialised Myotherapy or Remedial Massage techniques or functional strength training but usually a combination of both.
The truth of it is, if you come in with a particular injury or just muscular pain, (excluding an accident or impact injury) chances are you’ve been carrying dysfunctional movement patterns for a while. When these patterns break down and are repeated thousands of times over, they will eventually stress an area to a point which leads to pain.
Our job is to treat that area to give you relief from that pain but more importantly, to work out why that pain is there and get a game plan in place to make sure that pain never comes back again. This is where you come in. Our treatment plans are not passive for the client. Nearly all of them will include supervised strength training after your pain has lessened to a point that you can move freely.
What you can expect as a first time client is an hour long consultation with your Myotherapist or Remedial Massage Therapist where we discuss your injury/pain. Over the course of the treatment we’ll glean as much information from you as we can, we’ll asses certain movements, the way your muscle looks and feels and we’ll have plenty of time left over to give you the best damn deep tissue massage you've ever had to give you the relief that you’re seeking. We hold our standards high so we feel comfortable saying that.
Once you are pain-free we begin a specialised strength program, specifically tailored to your case. We continue your strength training in conjunction with deep tissue massage treatment (30 minutes of each) through your muscle and connective tissue. This makes sure we can iron out any kinks that are trying to creep back in from the old compensatory patterns that we are trying to break down. As you get stronger in your new posture, your old pain patterns will fall away, as the areas that were once stressed and painful are now supported by your new biomechanics.
